Celebrating Adoption
Some families like to celebrate adoption finalization day, others like to celebrate "gotcha day" (if it's not the same date as a birth day) and others like to celebration National Adoption Month in November. There is no one way to celebrate adoption. Below are some ideas for celebrating with your family, friends or community.
- Celebrate with family - Make a special seasonal dessert to enjoy with your family to remember the season that child became a permanent member of your family. Retell your child's adoption story and look at a photo album from that time. Read an age appropriate adoption book
- Celebrate with your class at school - Read an age appropriate book to your child's class and tell your child's own adoption story. Treats always make this event more festive! And you can send home this customizable letter about Positive Adoption Language and the book that was read to parents and teachers.
